Peaceful time of year in Tennengau

Most of us have fond memories of Advent season. So why not join us here in Lammertal, escape the daily grind of work, and enjoy this quiet, peaceful time of year.

A time to reflect, a time to unwind. Experience local traditions and folk customs for yourself, during what is probably the most beautiful time of the entire year.

Perhaps you will also wnat to visit an Advent market here in the Region. if so, ask a local, and they’ll probably let you know thier own personal favorite.

Here in the mountains, of course, Saint Nick and Krampus are very much part of the tradition. That said, a visit to a Krampus or Perchten Parade is an absolute must. On December 5th, Saint Nick pays all the local kids a visit (check postings for exact times and locations). And if you wish, Saint Nicholas will also come to your lodgings accompanied by a few Krampusses, where he will praise the good children and chide the ones who haven’t been quite as perfect.

In additon, numerous exhibitions of Nativity scenes as well as contemplative Advent choral concerts are held. The church masses at this time of year are especially beautiful. Probably the most beautiful of all is a Christmas “Rorate” mass held on Christmas Eve (24th December) at 6 in the morning.

If you have the opportunity to watch the Three Kings come calling on 6th January, you should absolutely do that. It’s worth it!
